Franklin Street: Botanical Dyes

At Franklin Street, we believe some of the most powerful insights emerge when we step outside our normal patterns and into something unfamiliar to understand how creativity, reflection, and a bit of discomfort can shift how we do our work.

On December 11, 2025, we hosted our first Inspiration Workshop at our Denver studio, bringing together a small group of senior leaders for a hands-on, creative experience. Maki Teshima, a botanical dyes artist, guided us to use plants and organic materials, including everyday waste like onion skins, to create one-of-a-kind scarves.

Together, we explored a central question: what is our relationship to perfection and to imperfection? We reflected together on what the process revealed about our own leadership, and for some, our question for precision or “perfection”.

One participant shared that the “intentionality of the people in the room, the thoughtfully designed space, the artist’s expertise, and the opportunity to be hands-on—combined with Franklin Street’s facilitation—made me feel part of a true community.”

Attendees left with a personally designed scarf and a renewed sense of curiosity, reminding us that the most meaningful insights often lie just beyond the familiar.
